As soon as Neverland appears on the horizon, Emma starts keeping track of the days again.
After three days, Gold emerges from his cabin, squinting into the bright afternoon sun. He’s got his shirt-sleeves rolled up and grey stubble on his cheeks, and he’s holding a small glass bottle full of a glowing blue liquid in his free hand.
“Is that it?” David asks. He and Mary Margaret have been playing a listless game of Go Fish up on the prow for the past two hours, but now they’re both sitting up straight, shielding their eyes with their hands to look at Gold.

summary: For some reason, Emma thought they’d pass through the portal and end up right at Neverland. Instead, they spend weeks aboard the Jolly Roger, sailing the vast blue-green oceans with no land in sight, the water seeming to stretch on forever all around them.

After just a couple of days at sea, Hook decides someone else aboard the Jolly Roger should know how to pilot the ship, just in case, he says, something were to happen to him.
He chooses Emma as his second-in-command, of course, giving her daily lessons at the helm, teaching her about port and starboard, explaining the best way to handle a storm, the most appropriate places to anchor for the night.
“Just slide it right in there, love,” Hook says, with a leer. He’s got one hand on Emma’s hip and the other holding her hand on the ship’s wheel, guiding her as they maneuver the ship between two cliffs jutting high above the ocean.
One side of Emma’s mouth quirks up in a half-smile, and Regina rolls her eyes.
